LifeNet EMS is proud to announce a generous donation from Don Ruggles, the founder of LifeNet Air, in honor of Roy Morgan, the founder of Air Methods. This donation is a tribute to their shared commitment to improving emergency medical services and saving lives.

Over 40 years ago, a tragic accident changed the course of Don Ruggles’ life. His son was critically injured, and the lack of access to an EMS helicopter was a contributing factor to his loss. Determined to ensure that no other family would endure such a tragedy, Don approached Roy Morgan with a heartfelt plea: “We’ve got to do better than this.”

Roy, moved by Don’s story, generously provided a helicopter that he had recently purchased. Don flew it back to St. Michaels in Texarkana, and that very afternoon, he responded its first emergency call. This marked the beginning of a vital partnership between LifeNet and Air Methods. Now 40 years later, LifeNet has a fleet of three helicopters and one fixed wing airplane as well as 70 ambulances across three states.

This donation will support LifeNet EMS’s on-going efforts to enhance their emergency medical services and expand our reach to help patients. This contribution underscores the importance of continued innovation and collaboration in the field of Emergency Medical Services.

A tragedy that turned triumph of 40 plus years of outstanding patient care and lives saved. LifeNet EMS is deeply grateful for this generous donation from Mr. Ruggles.
