Crawfish boil sells out

PRESCOTT – Mudbug fans weren’t disappointed Friday – except for those who didn’t pre-order – as the 10th Annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Crawfish Boil was held at the City Park.

Jamie Hillery, Chamber director, said the event sold out and there were few extra shrimp and crawfish available for walk-ins. For the sixth straight year, Lagniappe did the cooking with Bobby Duhon at the helm. He cooked 280 pounds of crawfish, 120 pounds of shrimp, 150 pounds of potatoes and 300 ears of corn – and it still wasn’t enough as people had to be turned away as the event sold out.

It was a hot, muggy afternoon under the pavilion and the breeze felt good to those eating the spicy morsels. Those who ordered ahead of time, though, had no complaints as they dug in on the spot or took their treasure trove home to enjoy in air conditioned comfort.
