PRESCOTT – Ribbon cutting ceremonies were held Tuesday morning for Gigi’s Bridal and Formal, 108 W 1st St. S.

The business is owned by Rick and Tina Smith, who also own Gigi’s. Tina said this is an off-the-rack shop where women can look for their bridal gowns, buy them and take them home all in one trip. She has both new and used dresses in sizes 0-26. However, bridal wear and accessories aren’t the only thing available at Gigis. They also offer formal and pageant gowns for those special occasions, also in new and used. Additionally, the formal wear can be rented as well as being sold. This, though, doesn’t include wedding gowns.

Tina continued, saying the business offers belts, veils, covers, items for flower girls and the mother of the bride. Gigi’s Bridal and Formal is strictly for women at this time, though suits are available at Gigi’s next door.

Gigi’s takes consignments on bridal and formal wear. “We’re trying to bring something new to Prescott,” she said, pointing out there are no bridal shops in the area and people have to drive a long way to look for bridal and formal wear. The business has two dressing rooms for ladies to try their finds on and see how they fit, as well as seeing what alterations may be needed.

Jamie Hillery, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the business to town, saying the Smith’s put a lot of hard work in redoing the interior.

Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver thanked the Smith’s for choosing Prescott for their business. “Maybe this will keep people form going elsewhere,” he said.

Tina said the wedding and formal dresses are affordable. She added those who bring items in on consignment set the prices they want for them.

“Our selection of prom, pageant and formal dresses are exploding. We have so many gowns to choose from, for sale and rent. We also take consignments.” She said the rental items will be expanded over time and if someone is looking for something they don’t have, they’ll try and find it for them.

To date, she said, six people have visited the shop with five going home with the wedding dress of their dreams. Currently the shop is only open by appointment by calling 870-442-5154.
