QC votes to buy new grader
PRESCOTT – In a special meeting of the Nevada County Quorum Court Tuesday, the court voted to purchase a new motor grader for the county.
The grader will be purchased from Riggs Equipment through the Bank of Delight. The court was told the county did check with Farmer’s Bank concerning interest rates and the Bank of Delight offered the best deal. Nevada County Judge Mike Otwell said the county is making the purchase through Sourcewell so it doesn’t have to go through the bid process.
The grader will have the standard Riggs warranty, and it was said it would be insured the day it’s delivered.
The court was also told the county would be paying Riggs off for the burned grader to the tune of $150,000 in a lump-sum payment. Nevada County Treasurer Ricky Reyenga said the county has the money to do this and the funds will be coming from Federal Emergency Management Act (FEMA) monies.
The court was informed Riggs came down from $175,000, agreeing to $150,000 when told it would get the payment in cash.
