Walter Dale Dougan passed away on June 20, 2024, at the age of 75 in Texarkana, Texas. Born in Ozan, Arkansas, on October 14, 1948, Walter’s life was a testament to his unwavering spirit and the love he shared with those around him.

A proud 1966 graduate of Hope High School, Walter dedicated his professional life to the Regional Landfill from which he retired. His hardworking nature was matched only by his passion for the simpler pleasures in life, such as farming, which allowed him to enjoy the fruits of the earth and the labor of his hands.

Walter’s infectious laughter and warm presence made him the life of any gathering. He was an avid bowler, a patient fisherman, a skilled hunter, and an enthusiastic dancer. His ability to turn any moment into a memorable one with a well-timed joke was unmatched. Walter’s humor, love, and friendliness were the hallmarks of his character, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though preceded in death by his beloved parents, his wife Connie Dougan, his son Hunter Britt Dougan, two sisters, Jane Wade and Helen Kidd, and one brother, Jack Thomas Ray Dougan, Walter’s legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by four devoted children, Christopher and wife Heather Dougan, Bryan Dougan, Jackie and husband Toby Trusty, and Courtly Dougan. His six grandchildren, Cameron and wife Hannah Dougan, Gabi and husband Michael Bevill, Bailey Dougan, Kason Dougan, Isabella Trusty, and Eli McKinney will forever cherish the memories and lessons imparted by their grandfather. His two great-grandchildren, Brooks Bevill and Chambers Dougan, though young, will grow up hearing tales of his kindness and mirth. A host of nieces and nephews also remember him fondly.

Walter Dale Dougan’s story is one of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
