Roy Dowdy

Roy Dowdy, age 81, passed away Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, at a Texarkana Nursing Facility.  He was born January 19th, 1943, to Luther and Dora Dowdy.

He retired from Domtar in 2004 as a millwright and was also retired from the Army Reserve.  He spent his retirement years at the “farm” where he loved to cut grass and keep the place looking like a golf course.  During the last two years he especially enjoyed playing dominos with his 2 special friends, Carolyn Bell and Kathy Thrash.  He was a member of Avery’s Chapel and had recently attended First Methodist in Texarkana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

He is survived by his wife Judy, his three children Russell and Becky Dowdy, Todd and Tammy Daughtry, and Shelly Walter.  He is also survived by his four grandsons, Buddy, Cody, Evan, and Cleo, and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26th at Madden Funeral Home Chapel, Ashdown, AR from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  There will be a graveside service on Thursday, June 27th, at 10:00 a.m. at Avery’s Chapel Cemetery, 662 Hempstead 29 CR, McCaskill, AR and then a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. at Avery’s Chapel.
