One dead in log truck collision near Bluff City
BLUFF CITY – A two-vehicle accident Friday morning in Nevada County near Bluff City left one man dead and another injured. According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, a 2006 Peterbilt log truck driven by Kevin L. Lambert, 46, of Waldo, was traveling westbound on Highway 24 East. A 1999 Freightliner log truck driven by Jason E. Barr, 42, of Huttig was traveling eastbound on Highway 24.
State Police say the Peterbilt was negotiating a right curve when the load apparently shifted resulting in the trailer colliding with the Freightliner. The trailer then overturned onto the driver’s side in the roadway and slid into the ditch on the north shoulder.
Barr was killed in the crash. Lambert was injured and transported to Magnolia Regional Medical Center. Trooper Jacob Haynie was the investigating officer.
The accident occurred shortly before 9:45 am Friday (6-28). Nevada County Fire & Rescue, Bluff City, Redland, and Fair Hills Volunteer Fire Departments all responded along with county and state officers. Pafford EMS also responded to the accident.
