City, Chamber gearing up for fireworks show

PRESCOTT – There’s gonna be a hot time in the old town Thursday night.

This is when the City of Prescott and Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce put on the July 4 fireworks show. The show itself will start at dark with the fireworks being shot off at the Johnson Sports Complex baseball field. Patrons are asked not to park too close to the baseball field to prevent fireworks from striking their vehicles.

Most people are expected to fill the home side of the football field where there will be four food trucks. The Prescott Rotary Club will be setting up at both entrances of the field to collect for the club’s food drive, but, as Jamie Hillery, chamber director said, there is no charge to attend.

There will be no live band this year as the budget for the event was put into the fireworks. However, there will be music, played on the PA system used for football games.

When it comes to the fireworks, the Prescott Fire Department and city employees will be handling them.

The Prescott School District reminds everyone to stay off the track and football field during this event.
