Blevins City Council

The Blevins City Council Meeting was held at City Hall on Monday (July 1st).  The meeting opened with a prayer, followed by the approval of the minutes. Next mentioned was grading completed and a sewer pond that was bush hogged with someone nearly getting snake bitten in the process.
The financial report was approved.
Next mentioned was Danny Montgomery who has created a history of Blevins on a Facebook page. A lot of time was taken putting it together. A meeting should take place with Mike Stephens on July 8th at 3:00 pm about the history of the bank. The council gave its approval.
Blevins Fire Chief Damein Mavis asked about paperwork that documented it being a municipal fire department. The state is eliminating some funding for rural fire departments while municipal ones are protected. The question was raised if the paperwork dating back to the 1970s couldn’t be found could the fire department and city council simply set it up again.
Where the fire department gets its water was an issue as it receives a lot of free water from the city and fights fires in other surrounding towns with Blevins water. The agreement was made to fill up with water from the community in which the fire was fought.
The meeting adjourned.
Mayor is Bobby Steed and council members are John Myrick, Joe Lane, Nancy Lovette, John Moore and Barbara Patterson.
