Emmet residents enjoy fireworks show

EMMET – Threats of rain did nothing to discourage the Emmet Vision Association from hosting its annual July 4 Fireworks Show Friday night.

The event started earlier in the afternoon as bounce houses were set up for children to play in and vendors filled the area around the walking track at Firemen’s Park offering an assortment of food and drinks. The park was filled with residents who were more than ready for the fireworks show, which was held at the old baseball field across from the former Emmet school. Musical entertainment was provided by the Sibleys.

The show was supposed to begin when it got dark, but began late. The company putting on the show arrived at 8 p.m. and had to have a portion of the baseball field mowed down so the fireworks would sit level on the ground. It took a while for the fireworks to be set up and the show didn’t begin until 9:20 p.m., though no one on hand seemed to mind.
