Jr. Watermelon Olympics & Watermelon Olympics at 48th annual festival

HOPE – The Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the Jr. Watermelon Olympics and Watermelon Olympics at the 48th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival. These exciting events promise fun and friendly competition for all ages.

Watermelon Olympics
Date & Time: Thursday, August 8th, 6:00 PM
Location: Legion Field
Events: 3-on-3 basketball, volleyball, tug-of-war, watermelon relay, and closest to the hole (golf)
Participants: Ages 13 & up
Teams: 8-person teams with a minimum of 2 female participants

Jr. Watermelon Olympics

Date & Time: Saturday, August 10th, 10:00 AM
Location: River Valley Tractor Kidz Zone
Sponsor: Hempstead County Farm Bureau
Participants: Individual children ages 6-12
Games: Ring toss, sack races, egg drop race, and a watermelon run.

Chamber Executive Director Christy Burns shared her enthusiasm, stating, “We are so excited to have the Watermelon Olympics competitions again this year. I would like to extend my gratitude to Summer Chamber and the City of Hope Parks and Recreation for their assistance in coordinating Watermelon Olympics. There is no registration fee, so just sign up, have fun, and see who takes home the watermelon win!”
