4th District Congressman Bruce Westerman Visits With Hempstead County EDC

Congressman Bruce Westerman visited Hope on Thursday (7-18).  The Congressman noted he had been “out in the district all week”.  The Congressman noted his is a large district in regards to geography.  He started the week in Pope and Yell County, moved on to Pulaski and Jefferson County, and also has visited Warren, Fordyce, Camden, and Texarkana.  Congressman Westerman said “it’s been a busy week but it’s been a great week….I love getting out in the district!”.  He noted he’d rather be in the district than visiting the Republican National Convention.

The Congressman said he enjoyed visiting with the Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation.  “We talked about economic development, issues with the airport and the industrial park.”  He continued, “We talked some work we need to do with the railroad, we talked about the hospital, a whole list of issues that important to Hempstead County and Hope proper.  I hope to be able to help out on some of those things”.

The Congressman is on the House Committee for Transportation and Infrastructure.  In this capacity he has been following viability reports on making the Red River navigable from below Shreveport to Index north of Texarkana.

Congressman Westerman’s District Director is Cody Burkham who grew up in Hempstead County.  The Congressman said he “can’t say enough good things about Cody”.
