Hope City Board Holds Special Meeting to Pass Ordinance to Buy Hospital

The Hope City Board had a special meeting Thursday (8-8) to pass an ordinance committing the Board to purchasing the hospital land and facilities. This was needed for bankruptcy court next Tuesday (8-13). The resolution previously passed simply expressed intent to purchase. City Attorney Randy Wright read the waive bid ordinance and the Board passed it.
Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation President Anna Powell was there to answer questions.  This document allows the purchase by the city to proceed. It will probably be two months before the purchase as actually made. During this time period Steward will continue to be involved.
