Rosston City Council

The Rosston City Council met City Hall on Monday (8-12). The meeting started with the pledge and a prayer. A motion passed accepting the minutes from the last month’s meeting.
Next a motion was passed to continue creating a new position of Financial Director which will be held by Melissa Hicks. She will be working with Tia Blakely who is the appointed Recorder/Treasurer.  The budget was just under $264,000, an increase of a little over $4,000.
The Mayor addressed the issue of 9-1-1 and noted he isn’t the 9-1-1 coordinator. Those who want to report a fire should contact 9-1-1 directly as he is not able to pinpoint where the person is calling from and thus isn’t able to get the provided help there.
There were motions about the proposed 1/2 cent sales tax. This involved a suspending of the rules to read by title and reading the proposal three times. The motion passed to put it to a vote during a special election.
The City of Rosston passed a motion approving 5 additional street lights on US 371 from Prescott entering Rosston.
The Mayor commended the board members and they in turn said he had gotten a lot done.
The meeting then adjourned.
