Nevada County 4-H members are State Champions

Three members of the Nevada County 4-H won the State Championship in the Junior Livestock Quiz Bowl. The competition was held Thursday, August 8th, on the campus of Arkansas Tech University. Team Members are (left to right) Jermeire Purifoy, Blair Priddy, and Wade Priddy. It was a long and exciting afternoon as Nevada County lost their first-round match of the double elimination tournament to the eventual 3rd place team from White County, dropping them to the loser’s bracket. The Junior 4-H Team then went on a 6 round winning streak including avenging the earlier loss to White County and defeating Greene County two times in the finals to secure the win.

The livestock quiz bowl activity trains 4-H members in general knowledge about beef cattle, swine, sheep, and goats. It helps to promote life skills such as self-confidence, decision making, problem solving, critical thinking, communication, cooperation, and teamwork in a competitive environment.
