Nevada School Board

The Nevada School Board met in the High School Library on Thursday (9-29). After being called to order there was a prayer and the pledge of allgiance followed by approval of the minutes. For the high school report, it was noted the year is going well. Students are working hard towards the December incentive trip. Participation requires perfect attendance and no disciplinary infractions.
Blue Jay University is growing with subjects added and a 78 percent increase in students taking concurrent courses. Added subjects include psychology, biology, world literature, speech, and art appreciation.
The district received supply donations from Holcim, Haybarn Championship Wrestling, and WIP
The Elementary has 223 students enrolled and 421 students were reported overall for the district.
The financial statement was approved.
For personnel, Rebecca Edwards was hired and family leave of 28 weeks was granted to Ladonna Mackaney.
Volleyball is in full swing. The first home game will be September 5th at 4:30pm against the Spring Hill Bears.
Pee Wee Basketball for grades 3-6 will begin the first week of September.
Students in grade K-2 will be taking the state mandated screening beginning September 4th.
