Gilbert Lumber is Prescott’s Oldest Retail Business

Founded in 1950, Gilbert Lumber is the oldest retail business in Prescott. Donny Steed purchased the business in 1994 and Donny Dillard in 2004.  In 2021 Joe Haney and Bill Dillard purchase the store.
The store sells lumber, hardware, plumbing, and building materials.  In 2012 a new addition was opened up. The store now has paint, lawn and garden, fishing supplies, feed, flooring, lighting, hunting supplies, and flashlights.
Gilbert’s motto is “if they don’t have it they’ll get jt”. Business has been steady so they feel very blessed. The competitive prices draw customers from Hope, Arkadelphia, Texarkana, and even Lonoke.  The owners say they try to offer a good service both in the retail store and also in the service they offer through delivery.
