Volunteer coach arrested in Prescott

PRESCOTT — Wednesday, September 11, law enforcement arrested a Texarkana man in Prescott on felony counts of engaging children in sexually explicit conduct and possessing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.

An investigation revealed that 34-year-old Alejandro Mendoza of Texarkana, Arkansas had allegedly inappropriate contact with juveniles and allegedly exchanged photos with them.

Arkansas State Police said in a statement that in July 2024, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force following a citizen complaint. Investigators determined that Mendoza, a volunteer coach, had allegedly inappropriate contact with juveniles, exchanging photos with them.

Mendoza was transported to the Nevada County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $250,000 bond.

This investigation is currently ongoing, with additional charges expected.
