Historic Washington State Park to host cemetery workshop

Informative presentation on family history research and hands-on techniques to be included

WASHINGTON – Historic Washington State Park will host a cemetery workshop on Saturday, October 12, from 9 am to noon, at the 1874 Courthouse and Pioneer Cemetery, 100 SW Morrison St., Washington. There is a $25 fee per person for the workshop and registration is required.

Melissa Nesbitt with the Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives will present “Thou art gone but not forgotten: utilizing cemeteries in family history research” at 9 am at the 1874 Courthouse. Participants will learn how to incorporate cemetery research into family history research.

Following the presentation, Historic Washington State Park Curator Josh Williams will teach participants the basics of tombstone care and proper cleaning techniques on tombstones in the Pioneer Cemetery.
