Governor releases additional funds to Nevada County for January storms

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Sarah Sanders has amended a May 6th, 2024, disaster declaration that will release additional funds to 16 counties that ha damage due to storms January 22nd of this year. One of the counties that was a part of that declaration was Nevada County.

Last week Governor Sanders declared Nevada County a disaster area from severe storms and flooding that occurred on July 12, 2023, and authorized funds from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund, in the amount of $38,979.69, to be used for Public Assistance disaster relief to Nevada County.

The action taken Tuesday (10/15) provides funding in the amount of $410,461.59 to be obligated from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund under the Public Assistance Program. Such funds will be used at the discretion of the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to defray both program and administrative costs. Part of that will go to Nevada County.
