Hope City Board
The Hope City Board met in the City Hall boardroom on Tuesday (11-5). After the meeting was called to order and the prayer and pledge were said, the minutes from the previous meeting were approved. A health care deductible plan was considered. This along with the traditional health care plan will be brought to the city employees next week at a health fair from November 13-15th. The cost of the traditional health care plan will increase by $486 per year for employees only and $1080.04 per year for the family plan. In contrast, the high deductible plan would cost $325.13 for employees and $720.38 for families.
The board considered three bids for a sealed equipment shed and accepted the low bid of $$48,750 from Barton Roofing and Construction.
The city board discussed an ordinance about enforcement of bike lanes. One will be written up and presented in two weeks.
In the city manager’s report it was noted the roadside memorial signs are up. City manager J.R. Wilson will have a time and date for their unveiling by the next board meeting.
The hospital committee continues to work out the details of the agreement with Pafford. An agreement is planned to be sent to Pafford’s lawyers this week. One more meeting will be held and when it is signed it will be brought before the board.
A Wednesday November 6th a community coffee hosted by the Hope Housing Authority was also mentioned as was Veterans Day parade on Friday at 6:00pm. The parade will start from behind Bank OZK on South Elm and following the district fair parade route. On Monday there will be a Veteran’s Day ceremony and a Lions Club fish dinner. The Veterans Day program is set for 11am Monday November 11am at the old courthouse on South Washington.
Chief Tomlin bragged about an employee winning the state communications officer of the year award.
