Fulton Town Council

The Fulton town council met in the fire department on Monday (11-4). After the meeting was called to order, a prayer was said and the minutes from the previous meeting were approved. The financial report was discussed.  There was some confusion among the council members about the numbers. A little over $1,500 was said to be in the general fund.  After receipts were read the report was approved with a 3-2 vote.
For the fire department, a grant from Tyson for maintenance was discussed. All the trucks are running well except for the ladder truck.  This truck would have come in handy for the recent fire at the Turk power plant. A motion passed accepting the report.
New water meters have arrived. 134 were to have been installed by Wednesday. There will be a registration and people will be informed about the update with the new water meters. The water rates will be increasing.  The town has been informed the state mandates the increases of at least 10 percent every five years. Mayor Henry Hale stressed this happens everywhere in Arkansas. This increase will help equalize those who have been paying too much and those weren’t paying enough. Mayor Hale stressed not to tamper with the new meters as those who are responsible will be liable should they be damaged. There will be an automatic cutoff.
On December 14th Christmas Dinner will be in the Fulton Fire Department.
There was a fundraiser for the Fire Department on October 26th in which $776 was raised.
For Citizen’s Concerns Jason Oller inquired if a piece of property was for sale and was told it was not. Oller then wanted to know who he should get permission from to remove trees from the edge of the property. Mayor Hale was more concerned about the cable being damaged than the asphalt. Oller said he had already checked about cable which is on one side of the property.
The meeting then adjourned.
