Rosston City Council
The Rosston City Council met on Monday (11-11). After the prayer and pledge the minutes from the previous meeting were approved. The budget report was presented. The city had an increase of $5,983.89 collected due to sales tax and the total bank balance as of November 11th was $288,554.33.
A 1/2 cent tax for the Fire Department was passed and approved.
The water study rates and recommendations were discussed. The state mandates a minimum of $42 for the first year and $11.05 per thousand gallons. For the second year it must be $49 minimum and $15.35 per thousand. Going forward the recommendation is a 3 percent increase per year. The purpose of these increases is to make the community financially independent and able to pay off its debts. Rosston isn’t alone in these increases as many communities are being required to do the same.
The proposed budget for 2025 was looked at and discussed. The budget will be adopted in December.
The Fire Department Halloween event went well with $2,905 raised.
The meeting adjourned.
