Nevada County Quorum Court
The Nevada County Quorum Court met on Tuesday (11-13). The minutes from the previous meeting were approved. The financial statement was discussed with a question as to why an account was in the red when there was plenty of money coming in. The response was accounts were kept separate. Lorelei Hale will review the numbers. Discussion also ensued on who has access at all the banks and it was noted only Hale. She has since gotten a deputy, Carol Tyree, who she wants added to the accounts.
Prescott/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Director Jamie Hillery said there were 71 kids for the Giving Tree which was up considerably from 25 previously. If anyone enjoys wrapping, they are welcome to come and help. The community directory is being worked on and Hillery wants to schedule new picture taking except for those who are happy with the current pictures. In the next two weeks there will be community coffees with both districts – one week in Nevada and the other in Prescott. This Thursday is the one at the Nevada Schools. There will also be shopping, holiday events and parades.
Stacy Stone from the Nevada County Extension Service mentioned Dana Fincher being part of the extension office now. He also noted more youngsters are being served now. 4-H showed tremendous growth this year and has achieved statewide success showing themselves to be tough competitors. Extension is holding Fun Day Friday (11-22) from 10am until noon. The next event will be on the 22nd at the County Fairgrounds. Neither district has school on Friday so kids from both can participate in the event. There will be a “Cookies with Santa” event on December 17th held by third graders in the library.
Ordinance 24-9, an annual millage passed.
Resolution 24-3 filling the vacancy in the treasurer’s office passed. Another motion passed to give Hale $1, 274.92 in back pay for the extra time she worked alone.
State Representative Steve Crowell was discussed in regards to obtaining a citation for long service on the quorum court.
