Hempstead County Quorum Court

The Hempstead County Quorum Court met on Thursday (11-14) to read Ordinance  2024-17. This ordinance was sponsored by Ed Darling and transferred funds for the hospital’s operation.  The ordinance was dependent upon the city of Hope passing a similar ordinance and they did earlier in the week.
The ordinance was read and passed unanimously.
With the passing Jamie Pafford-Gresham thanked the Court for the support. She said she was really proud of everyone who came over from Pafford and acknowledged the role the employees have played. Pafford-Gresham said they would spend the money wisely but it goes quickly. Their monthly payroll is $900,000.
County Judge Jerry Crane thanked Randy Wright, Judy Flowers, and Karen Smith for their role in the matter. Wright was thanked for talking the quorum court through the process.  Judy Flowers and Karen Smith were thanked for working through a chaotic day
The hospital ordinance was the only item on the agenda for the special called meeting.
