PRESCOTT – Dana Fincher may be fairly new to her position as the 4H Assistant in the Nevada County Extension Office but isn’t new to the area. She was born in Rosston and graduated from Prescott High School and UAHT with an associate’s degree in science. Fincher said she has lived on a farm all her life and started showing at a young age. She went to 4H and FFA as a child and judged both.

Fincher volunteered for 12 years with 4H. She has known Staff Chair Stacey Stone for a long time as they showed together in their younger years as well attending a lot of camps and workshops together. Fincher was the first female in the Agri program at Prescott during high school years.

Fincher is currently working hard to building a technology and robotics team. Goals and objectives include building up 4H by getting cooking, sewing and electronics teams going as well as the quiz bowl up and running.

Accomplishments include the Fun Days already held. On January 24th the kids are going to learn how to grill chicken. Those who win the district will go to the Arkansas National Poultry Competition.

Fincher said farming has been in her blood as she was born a country girl. She has been on the Nevada County Cattleman’s Association board and served on the Southwest District Fair Board. In her free time Fincher enjoys doing leather making and making custom jewelry. Fincher has two children who are both very active in showing and won several state awards in the horse club.
