Rosston City Council

The Rosston City Council met on Tuesday (12-10). A motion passed to approve last month’s minutes. The sales tax total money received was $4,040.92 and the total budget is $283,360.86. The budget was approved. Water rates are going to go up next month. Over the years the mayor has been working on water leaks. Rosston has lost a lot of water from these leaks and the mayor encourages people to work on their pipes while the weather is still warm. There has been a raise for the person who works on the water from $11-12 an hour. Shut -off and late fees will remain the same. The city won’t offer any more adjustments on water leaks as it causes too much conflict. Instead, everybody will be treated the same by being charged for the water they use.
A motion to approve the increases in water rates in 2025 passed as did a motion to increase the expenditures budget from $1,000 to $2,000. A resolution for a state and city street aid program passed. This will provide funds for the paving of both county roads #127 and #17 making all the roads the city is responsible for paved.
The council debated on whether to get a full-time policeman in Rosston but no action was taken. The mayor is trying to get the fire department where it can be independent. The water budget includes increases since the Arkansas 2025 water budget passed.
Milling and widening of one of the roads was talked about.
Motions passed adopting the 2025 city budget as well as the street budget.
The mayor wished everyone a Merry Christmas and safe holidays.
The mayor commented that a lot got accomplished this year.
