Mr. Earlie “Mutt” Martin
Mr. Earlie “Mutt” Martin, 97, of Rosston, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on the evening of December 8, 2024, at The Springs of Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Prescott, Arkansas after a long illness. He was a loving husband to his late wife, father, grandfather, and friend. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age, joining Zion Hill Baptist Church of Stephens, Arkansas.
He was born to the late Mr. Odell Martin and the late Mrs. Allie Cooks-Martin, October 17, 1927, in Stephens, Arkansas. He married Ms. Vira Alexander, December 23, 1950, and to that union was born, eight children together and two from previous relationships. He was drafted into the Army in 1954 during the Korean War. After his discharge from the Army, he came home and worked as a mechanic for many years.
He was preceded in death by both his parents. His wife of 52 years, Mrs. Vira Alexander-Martin. Two sons, Earlie, Jr and James. One daughter, Dorothy Devlin. One sister, Odessa Jenkins. Four brothers, C.D., L.T., Jewel and Grady.
He leaves to cherish his memories, four sons, Paul (Priscilla) Martin of Tucson, Arizona, Alvin David Martin of Tampa, Florida, Calvin Martin of Little Rock, Arkansas and Ronald (Gail) Martin of Warren, Arkansas. Three daughters, Violene Muldrow of Rosston, Arkansas, Peggy Weaver of Little Rock, Arkansas and Teresa Kirby of Rosston, Arkansas. One brother, Rudolph (Bettie) Martin of Forney, Texas. Two sisters, Christine Bailey of Rosston, Arkansas and Imogene “Betty” Jackson of Texarkana, Texas. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to miss him. A special grandson, Isaiah Kirby, a godson- Horace (Mary) Williams and some special friends Charlene Dixon and Marquetta Fellows is on the nursing home staff and lovingly regarded him as “Pawpaw.”
His service will be held at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church, 1019 AR-76, Rosston, AR 71858, Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:30 P.M. where Pastor David Roy will serve as Officiant and Rev. Allen Yarbrough will serve as the Eulogist under the direction of the Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Staff with military honors following his eulogy in the church. Interment will be immediately after his service at Mt. Vernon Cemetery 1152 Nevada 173; Stephens, Arkansas 71858.
