Nevada County Quorum Court

The Nevada County Quorum Court met in the Courtroom on Monday (12-16). The budget for 2025 was approved as was an appropriation for storm cleanup.

J.P. Herbert Coleman spoke to concerns about the raises comparing Nevada to the surrounding four and five counties. Even with the raises, the salaries still will be below the other counties. With the $.075 per hour raise jail employees will earn $14 per hour as opposed to the average in the surrounding 5 counties of $14.94. Sherrif Deputies will earn $18.70 per hour with the $2 per hour raise as opposed to $19.40 an hour received by the surrounding 4 counties. Coleman commented it is no wonder the county has been losing employees. Apart from jail employees all full-time county employees will receive a $2 per hour raise.
