Vanessa Green

Vanessa Green, 70, was born to the late Quincy and Mamie Staggers on August 2, 1954, in Ozan, Arkansas. She transitioned on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Howard Memorial Hospital.

Vanessa married James Green on June 28, 1980. She was a faithful member of St. Luke C.M.E Church, where she served as the Stewardess President for many years and was a long-time choir member.

Vanessa retired from Tyson Foods after 40 years of employment. She soon grew tired of sitting at home, so she started working at the ABC School in Nashville, Arkansas as a foster grandparent. She loved working there and continued to work there until her passing.

Vanessa is preceded in death by her father, Quincy Staggers; her mother, Mamie Staggers; and one sister, Frances Johnson and one brother, Melvin Jordan.

Vanessa leaves behind her husband, James Green of Ozan; her son, Cornelius (Melody) Ester of Ozan; a daughter, Lavette (Cedrick) Brown of Hope and a son, Alvin Green of Ozan and a stepson, Nathanial (Latoya) Green of Hope; a grandson that she raised as her own, Dakail Ester of Dallas, Mikele Carrigan of Little Rock, Toryano Carrigan of Hot Springs, Korionte Green, Aniya Green, Corliyah Ester, Keonta Brown, Javon Bradley, Cedrick Brown, Jr., Lasha Tatum, Tiana Miller, JaQuavious Bailey; 8 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jessie Staggers, Cecil Staggers, George Staggers and Johnny Staggers and three sisters, Ora Mays, Victoria Phillips and Gracie McFadden and three sisters-in-laws and a many other family and friends who she loved dearly.

Visitation will be 4-6pm Friday, January 3 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2:30pm Saturday, January 4, 2025, at St. Luke CME Church in Ozan. Burial will be at Gamble Cemetery in Ozan. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
