Hope Tourism Commission

The Hope Tourism Commission met in the City Hall Boardroom on Tuesday (1-14).  The minutes were approved as were the revenue and expenses.  When discussing permits and payments, it was noted there are enough businesses behind that it is an issue and making sure those who pay fully catch up rather than pay partially was discussed. The ordinance will be looked at.
The Union Pacific contract with the city will need to be renewed with a new lease price of $2,500. After it is renewed flagging services from Union Pacific will be needed in order to work on the loading platform.
For the Visitor’s Center, Ken Hubbell, a museum consultant is scheduled to come to Hope this week.  After lunch at Tailgaters, a group of local enthusiasts are invited to a meeting to discuss ideas and construct a 5 to10 year plan for the depot museum.
There were a couple of bids discussed for fixing the roof of the Visitor’s Center. No action was taken. More bids will be solicited.
For the ice rink at the HUB this year, there were a total of 402 skaters between November 21st and January 4th as well as 1 party booking. The total revenue was $2,110 with expenses of $1,023. November 29th and 30th had a peak of 96 skaters and December 20tjh and 21st had 78 skaters.
Under miscellaneous business Placer A.I. Civic data analysis company was discussed.  No action was taken but the commission is expected to discuss the company in the future.
The portable restroom trailer is looking really nice but still has a some more work to be done on it.
Bids are being obtained for the fencing for the soccer field since costs are so high.
