Hope City Board

The Hope City Board met on Tuesday (1-21).  The meeting was started with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance.
Jeremy Stone attended the meeting to present his report.  He mentioned that there are plans to get a pickleball court, along with a new fire station.  There was some discussion about taking care of the basketball court.  There was discussion on repairing the tennis court.  A motion was passed to fix all these issues.  Building the aquatic center was also discussed.  The aquatic center was one of the projects to be funded by the sales tax approved last year.
Mayor Don Still asked if the board could get a representative from construction companies for discussion on the new projects.
The Board considered an Arkansas Department of Agriculture loan.  They concluded even if they accepted part of the loan, they would cap off their budget, thus blocking their reserves.  It was suggested that they turn down the loan until they built up the reserves.  The motion was passed to do so.  The topic of illegal parking was brought up, but the topic was tabled until further information was known.  Cindy Ford would like to resign from her position in the Planning and Zoning Commission.  Alan Flower’s and Mike Smith’s terms have ended.  They would like to continue serving.  Mayor Still made a motion to reappoint them.  The motion passed.
