Joyce Evelyn Collins (Updated)
Joyce Evelyn Collins, born November 4, 1950, in Prescott, Arkansas, to the late Willie Hugh Johnson and Clara Carrigan Johnson, peacefully passed away on January 14, 2025. Joyce led a life full of love, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for nature. She attended McRae Segregated School in Prescott and professed her love for Christ while attending the Church of Christ in Prescott.
Joyce enjoyed spending time outdoors, walking in nature, and found peace in reading her Bible. A lover of Western movies, she could often be found watching her favorite shows. Above all, Joyce cherished her family deeply, always offering her love and support.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Clara Johnson; her beloved husband, Eddie Collins; her son, Toney Collins; her twin daughters; and three sisters, Verdie Cole, Arlene Johnson, and Theresa Watts.
She leaves behind a loving family, including three sons: Eddie Collins, Michael Ray Collins, and Joey Collins; three daughters: Jocelyn Collins, Ruby (Shawn) Marks, and Clarise Collins; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters: Frances Gadsden, Melba Young, and Gwen Woods (Thomas); three brothers: Willie Mae Hopson, Ronnie “Red” Watts, Rocco and a host of other relatives and friends.
Joyce’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kind spirit, love of nature, and the joy she brought to those around her.
A Homegoing Celebration honoring her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Brandon’s Mortuary in Hope, Arkansas. Family and friends may pay their respects during a viewing that morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Joyce will be laid to rest at DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott, Arkansas.
