Hope City Board

The Hope City Board met on Tuesday February 4th. The meeting started off with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance.
The board looked at some asphalt bids for this year’s street program. There were 5 bids. The high bid was $184.17 per ton from Smackover Paving. Other bids were from Sid & Sons, Red Stone Construction, Razorback Asphalt, and Tri State Asphalt. The board accepted the low bid of $129.90 per ton from Tri State.
Clay McGill spoke to the board from BiLD Architects. The board was discussing proposed architectural services and a revised AIA agreement. to further discuss the construction talked about in the last meeting. Mr. McGill discussed the different things BiLD looks at while doing construction. The Board voted to enter into an agreement with BiLD.
Summer Chambers requested permission to use a new logo for the Hope Parks, Recreation, and Tourism department. The board voted to adopt the new logo.
The Board considered an ordinance to purchase supplies and materials. This ordinance was passed.
Fire Chief Todd Martin spoke to the board on concerning a proposed site for the new Hope Fire Department facility. The Board decided to ask Jeremy Stone to see how much it would cost for preconstruction.
Hope City Manager J.R. Wilson presented his report to the board. He noted there will be a meeting to further discuss the streets on the February 18th at 6pm. It is open to the public. The board discussed hunting deer at the airport to reduce the chance of a plane hitting a deer during landing or take off.
Prior to Citizens Requests, a couple of board members had concerns. Mark Ross discussed the historical significance of a pavilion at the park. Steve Montgomery had comments on the potential rezoning of land near one of the school campuses. After Citizens Requests the meeting adjourned.
