Spring Hill School Board

The Spring Hill School Board met in the Elementary Conference Room on Monday (2-10). After a prayer the minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
The Elementary enrollment is 357 and the High School enrollment is 278. The Parent Teacher Conferences for both the Elementary and the High School will be held on Thursday the 13th from 2pm to 6pm. There will be a free dental clinic held by the Arkansas Children’s Hospital on the 21st of February.
For Career Technical Education, school staff will learn about revisions for Agribusiness, some of which will be required for graduation.
The high school recently learned it was in the top 10% in the state in growth. A break will be taken in the math intervention this month.
For expenses more than $5,000, there was a wastewater pump, an oven for the cafeteria and a heating and air unit. All of these expenses were approved. The wastewater pump cost $5,184 and was a replacement for a pump that bad to be pulled. An oven went out in the Cafeteria during Christmas break. The new oven cost $12,981. It is a three-phase oven which saves electricity but is also more prone to electrical strikes. A new heating and air unit at the cost of $7,361.90 was approved.
The acquisition of new playground equipment was discussed along with potential donors. Which equipment should be requested was discussed. No vote was taken.
The resignation of Kate Kidd was accepted.
The School Choice packet was accepted as well with most of the students familiar already to the school.
The Board went into executive session. A raise in salary for Jeffrey Steed was approved as were increases of $2,400 for both Kayla Parker and Coach Smead.
