Nevada County Quorum Court
The Nevada County Quorum Court met on Tuesday February 11th. The meeting was started off with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. After the roll call, a motion to approve the last meeting’s minutes was passed.
The Court discussed moving their bank account to the Bank of Delight due to higher interest rates. After discussion, a motion was made and passed to get an account at the Bank of Delight.
There was a concern about how an ordinance was worded. Prosecutor Ben Hale explained why he worded it that way and told the JP’s he could change it if they wished. A sales tax ordinance was introduced. The proposal is for a three-quarters cent sales tax. There will be an election on May 6th for this issue. A motion was made and passed to set the election date.
The public was allowed to speak. One person mentioned how the road in the front of his house is water-logged. He was asking for an update. The judge noted there is a gas line under the road and crews have to be careful when working on that road. There is a plan to work on it after the road dries up enough. The meeting then adjourned.
