James Benjamin Ogden

James Benjamin Ogden was born June 29, 1946, in Washington, Arkansas to the late Willie Ogden, Sr. and Cleola Ann Davis-Ogden.
James became known to all as “Jackie”. At an early age, Jackie became a member of St Paul CME Church in Washington, Arkansas and remained a member. He received his formal education from Lincoln High School in Washinton, Arkansas in 1959. He was a great basketball player and earned a scholarship to attend Philander Smith in Little Rock. Jackie decided to enter the workforce. He worked at Hempstead County Farmers Association for 55 years before retiring in Dec 2024.
In his leisure time, Jackie loved to mow his yard, fish, drive old blue,and watch sports. He was a true Arkansas Razorback, LA Dodgers, and Washington Commanders fan.
Jackie departed this life on February 4, 2025, at his residence in Hope, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 60 years, Shirley Ogden, two daughters, Donna (Ronnie) Reed of Balch Springs, Texas, and Sheila Ogden Hopson of Hope, Arkansas; two grandsons, Devontay “Trey” Bradshaw of Hope, Arkansas and Brecario “Cario” Ogden of Houston, Texas; one sister Barbara Ann Walker of Washington, Arkansas.
Jackie was preceded in death by his mother and father, Willie Ogden Sr. and Cleola Davis Ogden, his brothers, Willie Ogden, Sr., John Henry Ogden, and Leon Ogden, Sr.; his sisters, Cleaster Bailey, Wilma Carrigan, Velma Pace, and Christine Ogden and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends who will miss him dearly.
