Emmet City Council

The Emmet City Council met Thursday (2-20).  All council members were present.  A question about the phone line was brought up.  Mayor Dale Booker explained that there was some hassle with the phone company.  He mentioned  he had thought about laying his own line, but he said it would be expensive. Another council member said that they needed to contact the phone company and get an explanation.

The city has had a few roads around Emmet overlaid with fresh pavement. The cost was $310,000.

Water bills were brought up.  There are a few delinquent water bills.  The mayor said that the city was going to crack down on them.  It was suggested to make the cutoff 3 days after the due date.
The city has a new fire truck to replace an older one.  They paid $35,000 for the truck.  The mayor will go to Texarkana to have signage placed on it.  The fire truck has a 1,000 gallon pump.  The older fire truck can possibly be sold for$15,000.  There was a motion to sell it the council approved it.
3 sewer pumps need to be replaced.  There was some heated discussion about it, as there have been a lot of pump failures/replacements recently.
The council discussed the pavilion roof.  The Pavillion is on E 1st Street at ArkLAPark.  The roof has been replaced.  Replacement cost between $200 and $300.  The meeting then adjourned.
