67th annual Mardi Gras spaghetti dinner and supper

HOPE – It’s that time of year when heart shaped sweets are replaced with plastic grass and hollow chocolate rabbits. And everyone knows, that can mean only one thing: it’s spaghetti time at the Catholic Church! For those who aren’t familiar with this time honored tradition, let me fill you in. For almost three quarters of a century, Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church has been serving up spaghetti to celebrate Mardi Gras.

It has outlasted 8 tracks, cassettes, and CDs. It is older than the statehood of Hawaii.  They were serving spaghetti before the first Ford Mustang rolled off the line.

But it is so much more than a simple plate of pasta. It’s the history of a church parish, with grandparents baking cakes beside their grandchildren. It’s the heritage of a community with customers returning for decade after decade. It’s a band of faithful followers of all ages and backgrounds, working side by side, for days on end, all for the same goal. It isn’t just spaghetti. It’s THE spaghetti. And It’s only available Tuesday March 4th between the hours of 11 am and 7 pm at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 315 S Walker Street, Hope, AR.

You can purchase a ticket ahead of time from any member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, or drive by that day and pay with cash. For $12, you will receive a heaping helping of spaghetti, dripping in homemade sauce, a fresh salad, breadsticks, and a slice of that signature buttery pound cake.
