Tommy Jewel Dickerson

TOMMY JEWEL DICKERSON – October 22, 1933 – March 11, 2025,

Tom was born in Gurdon, Arkansas where he graduated from high school, went to college and joined the Air Force.

After basic training, he was assigned to Lowry AFB in Denver, then went to Korea. He went back to Denver and was discharged in 1957. He met his future wife Darlene while in Denver and they married in 1956. After being discharged from the Air Force, Tom worked for Martin Marietta and was involved in the Title 1 silo activation at Moses Lake, Washington and Mountain Home, Idaho. He was also a design engineer for the power subsystem for the Viking Lander system at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Tom retired in January 1992. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, always loving the outdoors. He also enjoyed amateur radio, computers, woodworking and many other hobbies. Tom moved to Porterville, California to be near his sons and their families.

He is survived by his sons Douglas Dickerson and Bryan Dickerson, his grandchildren Douglas Dickerson Jr, Charish Dickerson, Chantilly Dickerson, Zachary Dickerson, Savannah Dickerson, Isabella Dickerson and great grandchildren Samuel Dean Mitchell and Hailey Rose Mitchell, his sister Norma Jean Hibbs, niece Cynthia Mohrmann and sister-in-law Jerri Craddock.

Tommy was predeceased by his parents and Darlene his wife of 54 years. The funeral service will be held at Porterville Funeral & Cremation on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Visitation will be at 3PM and the service at 5PM. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers who made his life enjoyable and pleasant.

Tom will be buried in the Center Ridge Cemetery in Gurdon, Arkansas Thursday, March 2025, at 11:00am, under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home of Gurdon.
