Hope Lions Hear from Arkansas Game & Fish Fisheries Biologist

The Hope Lions Club heard from Arkansas Game & Fish Fisheries Biologist Dylan Hann on Monday (3-24).  Hann covers six counties in southwest Arkansas counties which include Lake Greeson, Millwood, the Tri-Lakes, and the Red River.  Hann says his area is the most diverse district in the state.  He works with everything from trout to alligators.  He’s also involved in some state programs dealing with drones as well as in species management teams dealing with sturgeon, paddlefish, and alligator gar.

Hann specifically talked about a project that involved installing tracking devices in largemouth bass.  Mostly he focused on these tagged fish in Millwood.  Part of this is to study aging reservoirs and how their “silting in” affects fish habitat and how the Game & Fish can better rehab this habitat.

Hann showed photos of how the fish move around in Millwood and talked about the patterns the Game & Fish have found.

Any angler who catches a tagged fish will find a real “tag” on the fish explaining the fish have chips in them for studies and to please release them back into the lake where they were caught.
