Hempstead County Historical Society Meeting Focuses on Hope’s 150th Anniversary

The Hempstead County Historical Society met on Tuesday (3-25).  Joshua Williams talked about this year being the city of Hope’s 150th birthday.  There will be a whole day of festivities downtown and at Hope City Hall.  On City Hall grounds, there will be free burgers and hotdogs sponsored by Farmers’ Bank.  Two bands will also perform at City Hall.

Williams gave a presentation on some key points in Hope’s history.  He showed a variety of photos from Hope’s history including photos that were used in his book on Hope’s history.  Other points of the presentation discussed businesses and other buildings in the past of Hope, such as the Henry C. Yerger School.
