James Raymond Bozman
James Raymond Bozman, affectionately known as “Raymond,” was born on December 23, 1950, in Prescott, Arkansas, to the late Elizabeth Zachary and Theodore Bozman. On Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 74, James transitioned to his heavenly home, leaving behind a life filled with love, faith, and cherished memories.
From an early age, James accepted Christ at St. Luke Church in Prescott, Arkansas. He was a proud graduate of McRae High School, Class of 1969. As his faith continued to grow, he later joined St. Luke Baptist Church in Rixey, Arkansas, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Eric Alexander.
A dedicated and hardworking man, James held several jobs throughout his lifetime. His longest tenure was with Lofland Steel Company, where he devoted 25 years of service before retiring. Even after retirement, he continued working as a driver for Pathfinder in Jacksonville, Arkansas, for five years, always finding ways to stay active and serve others.
Through the union, with Carolyn Bozman, two beloved daughters, Shelby and Domineek, were born. Together, their journey took them to Texas and Rockford, Illinois, before settling in Jacksonville, Arkansas, to be closer to family.
A passionate sports fan, James found the most joy in football, cheering on his team as a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Whether they won or lost, his dedication never wavered.
Beyond his love for sports, James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his wisdom, kind spirit, and unwavering support for his loved ones. One of his favorite sayings was, “You have to crawl before you walk.”
James was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Zachary and Theodore Bozman, and five siblings: Mae Ruth Bozman, Leonard Jefferson Bozman, Leotis Bozman, Robert Junior Bozman, and Bobbie Fay Bozman Foreman.
He leaves behind a loving family to honor his memory, including his two daughters, Shelby Smith and her husband Corey of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Domineek Jackson of North Little Rock, Arkansas. His legacy continues through his four grandchildren, Alexus and Tyler Jackson of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Cornelius and Chloe Smith of Jacksonville, Arkansas, as well as his great-grandchild, Mason Jackson of North Little Rock. He is also survived by his three sisters, Johnnie Frazier of Los Angeles, California, Katie Box of Prescott, Arkansas, and Margaret Meeks of Prescott, Arkansas, along with a host of relatives and dear friends.
Though James is no longer with us in body, his love, wisdom, and faith will remain in our hearts forever. His presence brought light to so many lives, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all. As he always reminded us, “You have to crawl before you walk.”
Rest peacefully, James Raymond Bozman. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in his honor at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Munn’s Chapel First Baptist Church in Prescott, Arkansas. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, March 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brandon’s Mortuary in Hope, Arkansas.
