Sam Cogbill

Sam Cogbill, 91, of Willisville, AR passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at The Springs of Magnolia in Magnolia, AR.

Born October 5, 1933, in Ozan, AR to the late Frank and Mammie (Lamb) Cogbill. He was a mechanic working in the oil field for 17 years, after the oil field, he went to work in the manufacturing field for Shanhouse and Porterco, Inc. where he retired.

Sam was a rodeo cowboy in his younger days, competing in local and regional rodeos. He also enjoyed gardening, sharing his bounty of tomatoes and peppers with family and friends in his community.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lucretia (Logan) Cogbill; second wife, Billy Jo (Womack) Cogbill; daughter, Vicky Carol Holland; siblings, Joyce Burns, A.D. Cogbill, Charles Cogbill, and Jimmy Don Cogbill; and daughter-in-law, Becky (Waters) Cogbill.

Sam is survived by his wife, Angel (Hobble) Cogbill of Willisville; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Anita Cogbill of Waldo; grandchildren, Shawna Cogbill of Waldo, Shane Cogbill of Magnolia, Ashley Griffeth and Dustin Holland of Greenwood, and Cassey Goodwin of Waldo; eleven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A visitation was held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia with a graveside service following at the Willisville Cemetery in Willisville, AR with Bro. Ed Phillips officiating.

Pallbearers were Loyce Wayne Burns, Casey Burns, Jimmy Dean Cogbill, Damon Hughey, Shane Cogbill, and Richard Magness. Honorary pallbearer was be William Milllican.
