HOPE – Hope native Judy Davis met with Hope’s Scout Troop 5 to teach them about the customs and rituals of the Cherokee people. Judy wore her grandmother’s genuine Cherokee outfit for the meeting.
Judy introduced the Scouts to the Cherokee alphabet and words. She spoke of
the tribe’s history and traditions.
Judy played a tape of Cherokee Indians playing dance music for different
occasions. She had the Scouts join in, learning the steps to go with the
tunes. The Scouts had a great time and they hope Judy comes back to do some
more dancing with them.
