Hope City Board

The Hope City Board met on Tuesday (4-15). The meeting was kicked off with the prayer and the pledge of allegiance. All Board members were present except for Steve Montgomery and Mark Ross. The minutes of the last meeting were accepted. Anna Powell, Executive Director for Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation was present to give the board an update about the projects the group has going on, along with PR for a recent tax implementation. She said that the group loves to get involved with the community.
Christy Burns of the Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce was present to give the board a report. They have launched and supported several local campaigns such as Hope’s 150th birthday. They coordinate with Downtown Network as well.
There are bids for the airport runway 422 repair project. The estimated project cost is $553,340. The three bids are:
1. Metro Construction Services LLC — $442,435
2. Custom Pavement Maintenance LLC — $652,620
3.Redstone Construction Group Inc. $721,155
The Engineer recommends Metro Construction Services LLC, with the local share cost is roughly $97,222. There was a motion to accept Metro Construction Services LLC. The motion was approved.
Hope Airport staff requested permission to apply for two grants for fiscal year 2025. The two grants are the 80/20 grants, for the rehabilitation of the runways. The project is in the 2025 budget. The two bids were
Denali Water Solutions LLC -for $689,170 and Hodges Farms and Dredging LLC for $749,000.
There were also bids for the Wastewater Holding Pond Automated Control Valves Project. The bids are :from Bobo and Bain Construction -for $547,000
and RBIS, LLC for $671,000. Airport staff recommended the Bobo and Bain Construction bid.
The City Manager gave his report. One item on his report was damage from the recent severe storm. A wastewater line collapsed near Byreview Veterinary.
The Vice Mayor thanked the first responders and Hope Water and Light for helping during the storm. The meeting then adjourned.
