Prescott School Board
There was a Prescott School Board in the Junior High Conference room on Tuesday (4-22). After the meeting was called to order and the prayer there was an Expulsion Hearing.
There was a data presentation comparing last fall to this spring. In fourth grade there has been a lot of growth with Prescott above the state in some areas and below it in others while in fifth grade the Wolves are either the same as the state or better. Eighth grade English language needs some improvement while the eighth grade English levels need improvement but math is above the state averages.
For 9th Grade, English Language level 1 decreased 23%, level 2 increased 15%, level 3 decreased 8% and level 4 was the same. For 10th Grade ELA level 1 decreased 20%, level 2 increased 18% and level 6% and level 4 decreased 4%.
For Algebra 1 there was 348 points of total growth, 16 students leveled up, 20 students had double digit growth, and one student had 41 points of growth. Prescott average score has decreased to five different than the state average. For Geometry multiple students increased their scores by double digits and there were 301 total points of growth.
Following this was an audit report which was approved. A motion for the Special Ed Department to open for bids on Occupational therapy, Physical therapy, Speech services and Medicaid billing passed. A motion also passed to approve five meetings – March 17th, April 3rd, 7th, 8th and 14th.
For the superintendent reports, the enrollment is at 884 which is up 3 students from last month but down 30 from April 22nd last year.
The tax revenues of March 2025 are $25, 864.20 (73% of the amount budgeted) while a year ago it was $24, 559.58 (73.82% of the amount budgeted). For this April more was received than last year.
There was an executive session about personnel and afterwards the hires of Ethan Moore for Science and Tracy Delgado for Special Education were approved. So was the resignation of Tommy Poole as Athletic Director, Greg Dugan as Maintenance Supervisor, and Makanna Palmore as Preschool Paraprofessional. A retirement letter from Valerie Cobb was accepted.
The Certified salary schedule passed as did Certified and Classified Rehires. The 4-day week has been approved.
Upcoming events include the Chamber Banquet on April 29th, Senior High District Track on April 30th and Senior Breakfast on May 1st at 8:30, followed by awards at 9:30. The graduation is on May 4th at 3:00 in the High School Arena. There will be a state track meet on May 6th. Feeding teachers will take place on May 7th.
