Hempstead County Quorum Court

The Hempstead County Quorum Court met on Thursday for their regular monthly meeting. The meeting was kicked off with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. All the J.P.’s were present. The last meeting’s minutes were approved.
The quorum court approved two ordinances. The first ordinance is “An ordinance appropriating and transferring funds from Quorum Court miscellaneous to the veteran office budget to help with the purchase of a new DAV van”. The second ordinance is “An ordinance to amend ordinance 2024-19 to add more money in the road department’s overtime line item”.
There was some discussion on property on 16th Street which has been appraised for $16,000.
There was a public comment from Sylvia Brown from the Fulton community. She said that she was looking for grants to help with infrastructure issues. The meeting then adjourned.
