Mary Cathryn Saunders (Rogers)

Mary Cathryn Saunders (Rogers), “Maw Maw”, aged 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2025, in Hope. Born on December 20, 1930, to Raph and Mary Barbaree Rogers of Hope (Shover), Mary lived a life full of love and creativity. In 1946-47, she married Earl Ray Saunders, and together they raised four children. Mary was a talented seamstress, known for her beautiful crafts of bears, rabbits, and angel dolls made from embroidered linens and quilts. She cherished her time traveling with Earl Ray to Canton, TX every month, fellowshipping with many friends. Her porch was her happy place where she loved to visit with family and friends. Gardening and antiques were among her favorite pastimes, and she had a knack for finding bargains. Her legacy is one of love and cherished memories that will last forever.
Mary is survived by her three children, Nancee Bowser, Earl Ray Jr. (Buddy) Saunders, and Rusty (Chris) Saunders, as well as her sisters, Cory and Martha, and her numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Earl Ray Saunders, her daughter Jeannie Cox, her granddaughter Tracie Horneman (Cox), and her brothers and sisters.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025, 10AM at Washington cemetery in Washington, AR, with Bro. Joe Miller officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to Heather Manor Nursing & Rehab.
