Alfonso Hinojosa earns Bronze Certificate for Outstanding Stroke Response performance
HOPE – We are proud to announce that Alfonso Hinojosa has earned the Bronze Certificate of Achievement for his exceptional performance in stroke response times as part of the UAMS Stroke Program. This recognition celebrates his dedication, precision, and teamwork in delivering life-saving care to stroke patients in a rural healthcare setting.
As a participant in the UAMS Stroke Program, our facility is equipped to conduct NIH Stroke Scale assessments via telehealth in partnership with UAMS neurologists. This program empowers rural hospitals across Arkansas to provide timely, advanced treatment to stroke patients—often a matter of life and death.
The program holds us to specific target times for each phase of patient care:
● Door to MD at bedside: 10 minutes
● Door to CT scan: 15 minutes
● Door to UAMS call center: 25 minutes
● Door to UAMS neurologist: 30 minutes
● Door to needle (administration of TNK): 60 minutes
Alfonso Hinojosa exceeded expectations by hitting all of these critical benchmarks, including an impressive Door to Needle time of just 48 minutes—well under the 60-minute goal. This performance reflects a high level of clinical readiness and commitment to excellence.
“This achievement is a testament not just to Alfonso’s individual skill, but to the collective effort of our entire emergency response team,” said Christie Waller, Emergency Director. “From registration to radiology to lab and our nurses and physician, it truly takes everyone working in sync to meet these goals.”
Continued excellence in stroke care is supported by monthly mock stroke assessments with UAMS via telehealth. These sessions ensure we remain sharp, coordinated, and fully prepared for real emergencies.
We are incredibly proud of Alfonso for his outstanding work and grateful for the support of the UAMS Stroke Program, which provides not only real-time tele-neurology services but also assists in coordinating patient transfers to appropriate care facilities.
